BOOKS IN ENGLISH ON ERETZ ISRAEL
EM HA BANIM SEMECHA: First published in 1943, Em Ha Banim Semecha remains the most comprehensive treatise on Eretz Israel, redemption, and Jewish unity. Much of this remarkable work has been proven prophetic by the passage of time. It is truly a priceless treasure. The saintly author Rabbi Yisachar Shlomo Teichtal originally. shared the prevalent, orthodox view which discouraged the active return to Zion. The Holocaust however, profoundly changed his perspective. The annihilation of unprecedented numbers of his fellow Jews forced him to seek explanations, Thus, relying almost exclusively on his phenomenal memory and keen insight, he investigated the matter exhaustively. His conclusions are eye opening. The Jewish people will find refuge from their troubles, he argues, only if they unite to rebuild the Land. This will bring about the ultimate redemption. Although more than fifty-five years have passed since its original publication, the message of this book Is as crucial today as it was then. We therefore take great pride in presenting this masterpiece to the English speaking public. We only hope that Jews the world over will absorb its message and apply it in practice
LIGHTS ON OROT: Only by learning the secrets of Torah, can a person experience the highest levels of holiness, and the transcendental Segula of Eretz Yisrael. Rooted in Kabbalistic literature is the understanding that Hebrew letters are the atoms and building blocks of the soul. When a Jew makes AIiyah to Israel, his small, individual letters expand to become the gigantic letters of CIa! Yisrael. Our Sages teach that the redemption of Israel is a gradually developing process which unfolds over time, like the awakening of dawn over the mountains. Because the soul of a Jew is connected to all of the souls in the CIa!, the yearning of even one individual for the Land of Israel has a profound, multiple effect on all of the nation. The mercy of G-d is aroused, and the nation returns to its homeland. The longing for true Israeli life and religious expression burns even in the souls of Jews who are distant from Torah and precepts. All of their longing for freedom, for enlightenment, and for redemption, in whatever form it takes, stems from the nation’s holy longing for G-d.
TORAT ERETZ ISRAEL: The Teachings of HaRav Tzvi Yehuda HaCohen Kook HaRav Tzvi Yehuda HaCohen Kook was the only son of HaRav Avraham Yitzhak HaCohen Kook, and the person closest to Rabbi Kook and his teachings. As Rosh Yeshiva of the Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva in Jerusalem, he educated a new generation of Israelis to see the Divine Hand in the rebuilding of the Jewish nation in Israel. Dedicated to his father’s vision of Torah and Am YisraeL, Ray Tzvi Yehuda worked throughout his life to edit and publish his father’s prolific writings. His small apartment in the Geula section of Jerusalem was also the spiritual center of the settlement movement in Israel. The founders of the new Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, in Aza and the Golan Heights, were all students of HaRav Tzvi Yehuda. Gedolei haDor, Prime Ministers, Tzahal generals, and Baale Tshuva from all over Israel were frequent visitors to his home. This book marks the first time that Rav Tzvi Yehuda’s lectures have been translated into English. His teachings on Torah, Emunah, Ahavah, Eretz Yisrael, Zionism, the Holocaust, Geula, and the Mashiach, bring the encompassing Torah of Eretz Yisrael into unparalleled light. The book’s commentary brings the reader into the Belt Midrash of Rabbi Kook, presenting an intimate understanding of his vision and the unique era of redemption which Rabbi Kook inspired the nation to see.
WAR AND PEACE: The teachings of Rav Avraham Ytzchak Ha Kohen Kook Ztk'l. When One understands that the Redemption of Israel is the goal of world history, one can discover a new spiritual dimension in all of the world's revolutions and wars. Our heroes of the past: Abraham, Moshe, Joshua, King David and the Macabbees, were complete in their spiritual building mighty in Torah, mighty in holiness and mighty in war. Our identification with them:, and our desire to emulate them awakens our own inner potentiaL There are times when Israel is forced to adopt the politics of war, not from a lust for killing and conquest, but to put an end to all war. Modern. western culture, with all of its immoraility and falsehoods, will disappear from the world. The holy culture at Israel will be established in its place. While the general outlook on peace maintains that man's inner peace will come only after world peace is achieved, the opposite is true. Peace begins at home. This is especially important for the nation of Israel, which is destined to lead the world to Shalom
